The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) is a national information clearinghouse and resource center for missing, unidentified, and unclaimed person cases across the United States. NamUs is used by law enforcement, families and friends of missing persons, and medical examiners and coroners, providing a unified, online, free, secure database for unidentified remains and missing persons records.
Missing and murdered Indigenous People
American Indian and Alaska Native people are at a disproportionate risk of experiencing violence, murder, or going missing, and make up a significant portion of the missing and murdered cases. The Missing and Murdered Unit within the Office of Justice Services focuses on analyzing and solving missing and murdered cases involving American Indians and Alaska Natives.
