“We Must Protect Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves.”

— Chief Moody, Nuxalk Nation

The Grey Winds

The Grey Winds Project started as a passion project for Special Agent Robert A. Burnes, his wife, Siphannay Burnes, and Special Agent Shawn Walker, to fight against the endemic missing, kidnapping, and murder that have plagued the women of our Native American communities for centuries. What started as an educational-based organization morphed into an operational search and rescue team. They weren’t satisfied with simply telling people about the problem and wanted to be part of the solution.

Education

In July 2024, The Grey Winds Project launched a new training and education outreach program aimed at high schools and colleges. Our mission is to educate students on grooming and missing persons, ensuring that predators will not have the opportunity to target or harm someone. Through awareness and prevention education, we work to dismantle grooming tactics before they can ever be used.
